Camping in Busselton and adventures in the Great Outdoors

Busselton's best camping adventures

Busselton is loved for its superb coastal location and proximity to the Margaret River region's rustic countryside. Ocean, forest, farms, paddocks: it all makes for a fantastic holiday in the Great Outdoors. Camping in Busselton is a time-honoured family tradition that holds true, even if it means bringing along the iPads and smart phones.

Tenting is loved by families who enjoy being outside, so it seemed natural to include some nature-based activities to do on your outdoor camping in Busselton holiday.

Camping in Busselton

One of the best camping grounds in Busselton is right here at Beachlands! Our campsites are surrounded by shady peppermint trees and are near the beach too. All campsites are powered. We have slab sites (great if you’re bringing a van) and the rest are grassed sites covered with shade-cloth. Upgrade to an ensuite site for a little luxury! Otherwise we have great shared facilities including a family bathroom with heated floor – just the thing on a cool morning.

Sites are close to our wonderful park facilities like the playground, splash and water play zone, swimming pool, NEOS 360 play site, giant jumping pillow, bike trails, and hire options include pedal go karts and SUP boards. The kids will have so much fun, they may never want to leave. You’ll love the excellent camp kitchen, onsite laundry, free-to-use BBQs, barista-trained staff in reception, and the bathrooms with heated floors.

Families love camping and holidaying at Beachlands, which means there's always loads of kids around during school holidays for you children to befriend.

Dog friendly Busselton camping

Well behaved dogs are welcome at Beachlands, but we have strict guidelines to ensure everyone has a great time. Please read them carefully and call us on 9752 2107 to make your booking.

We've even thought about your furry family member and provide a coin-operated dog wash for after all those walks on the beach.

Climb and zip amongst the forests

After a night of sleeping under the stars, get ready for some action and adventure. There's a new bushland adventure park set amongst the trees in Dunsborough.

Next Level Monkey Business is perfect for families with kids aged four and older who want to embrace their wild side with a little tree hugging and Tarzan zipping through the jungles of the South West. With rope course for kids as young as four, this new nature-based activity is sure to be a hit with outdoorsy families. An on-site cafe serves hot and cold drinks, snacks, and freshly made meals. You’ll find it next to Clancy’s Fish Pub.

Go fishing on the beach

Fishing is one of the region's most loved pastimes. Fishing in Busselton pairs perfectly with your camping in Busselton trip because it's a great way to immerse yourself in the natural world and if you're lucky, you'll catch a feed for your campfire dinner. Try for whiting, tailor, and salmon (seasonal) along the sandy shores of Geographe Bay at sunrise and sunset for magical views to boot.

Ride like the wind on the best cycling trails

Busselton is lucky to have a flat, paved pathway along the foreshore and beyond that makes for an excellent cycling track. The coastal track extends from Geographe all the way to Dunsborough. If mountain biking is more your style, there are plenty of trails perfect for novice to extreme riders.

The Pines, off Carter Road near Margaret River is a favourite jumble of mountain biking trails for all abilities. Intermediate to expert riders can practise their berm skills and get some air on table tops along the rolling tracks.

Near Dunsborough, the Meelup Trails offer a mix of smooth and rocky roads. Green trails like Child's Play and Beam Me Up Scotty are family-friendly, while the black runs of Happy Myles and Black and Blue are for advanced riders.

Bike hire: The Hairy Marron in Margaret River and Bike Shed in Dunsborough for mountain bikes and Spinway WA Cycle Hire near the Busselton Visitor Centre for cruisers.

Snorkelling adventures

The South West is blessed with a beautiful coastline so spending time in the water is a must and snorkelling is amongst the favourite activities. Meelup Beach offers easy access to the sheltered bay for safe swimming and snorkelling.

The Busselton Jetty is a hotspot for snorkelling under and along the timber pylons. Look for crabs, octopus, and a variety of fish species.

The Aquarium is a once-secret natural rockpool near Smiths Beach in Yallingup where you can swim and snorkel in a sheltered pool away from the crashing surf. This one is best for younger kids for its crystal-clear, calm water, but it's so beautiful the whole family will have a fantastic time. Snorkelling and water play is an ideal day-out on your camping in Busselton holiday.
