Christmas Shopping in Margaret River

Stress free shopping in Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River

Christmas Shopping in Perth is hard work! You pay for parking, queue up for change rooms, can’t always find service staff and it can all be a bit stressful.

We love doing our Christmas shopping in Margaret River, Busselton and the south west – there are so many creative businesses and it feels good to buy unique gifts and support small business owners. So why not having a relaxing pre-Christmas shopping holiday in Busselton?

This guide focuses on local businesses that provide awesome service and/or locally designed or made goods. And there’s no parking fees anywhere in these lovely towns, win!

Kids

Varda in Dunsborough is fantastic for newborn to toddlers’ gifts. Owned and operated by a homeopath, they carry lots of organic cotton clothes, beautiful toys such as soft dolls and wooden toys – they don’t have plastic toys. They have an excellent range of sunglasses, hats, beach toys, swim wear and Saltwater Sandals.

Fat Duck Cycles in Busselton or Bike Shed in Dunsborough both sell quality kids bikes, helmets and accessories. And have you ever met a kid that didn’t want a new bike for Christmas??

Books

Barefoot Books in Fig Tree Lane, Busselton, is AMAZING. You’ll be greeted as soon as you arrive, by staff who are keen readers and able to recommend all kinds of wonderful books. They have an enclosed kids’ play area too.

Margaret River Book Store on the main strip is fabulous. Again, it’s locally owned and operated and has a wonderful range of local books too. Look out for Artists of the Margaret River Region book (it’s fab) or the Rebecca Cool children’s books.

Wine shopping at Fraser Gallop Estate - everyone loves receiving wine for Christmas!

Food and Drink

With over 95 cellar doors in the region, there’s a whole lot of incredible wine on offer. Most wineries have presentation boxes if you ask, or at least a nice carry bag to present the gift in. We’re particularly fond of Fraser Gallop Estate, Domaine Naturaliste, Marq Wines and Flametreee. Cape Cellars in Busselton is a wonderful one-stop shop for local wine, craft beer and spirits.

A bottle of gin or award-winning whiskey from Margaret River Distilling Co would make a thoughtful gift. They also run full-day Giniversity gin making classes, where you blend flavours and distill your own gin. Highly recommended.

Margaret River Farmers Market has plenty of fresh produce, but they sell some nice gift ware too – perhaps a MRFM tote bag (they’re beautiful), a bottle of Uralba olive oil or some Zinfandel from Burnside Organic Farm (awesome avocadoes too).

Providore is the place to buy for foodies. Incredible jams, syrups, oils, vinegars and much more. The Larder recently moved to Gnarabup and they sell some lovely local goodies in jars and tins.

Margaret River Chocolate Co, Gabriel Chocolate and Temper Temper all create scrumptious and nicely packaged chocolates. MRCC in particular has loads of fun products like Chocka the Quokka with part proceeds going to quokka rehabilitation funds too.

Locally roasted coffee beans from Commonage Coffee or Yahava Koffeeworks make a fab gift for someone with their own espresso machine and grinder.

You’d need to bring a good esky, but why not pick up a Christmas ham at The Farm House Margaret River? Their ethically raised Big Red pork is delicious, and always stars on our Christmas table.

Clothing and Shoes

Burger Bones have just released tee shirts! Arguably the best burgers in Western Australia, you’ll find them at The Shed Markets Busselton.

Merchandise – if you’re buying for someone who LOVES a particular wine or craft beer, chances are you’ll be able to buy them a tee shirt, hoodie, cap or wine tote. Eagle Bay Brewing Co hoodies and caps are very popular down this way!

DS Flex is a Dunsborough designed, affordable active ware range. We love the matching mother and daughter tights. Find them at the Dunsborough markets.

Milc in Dunsborough has high end but beautiful womens clothing, perfect if you’re looking for a special occasion dress. Good service and a huge range of jeans, too.

Stepping Up Menswear in Dunsborough has quality shirts – Dad gets one every Christmas!

Supanova shoes changed hands this year, but they still have a beautiful range of womens shoes.

Hillzeez is one of many excellent surf shops in Busselton and beyond – and it’s a great place to pick up a small gift like a tee shirt, Haviana thongs or hat.
