Dogs on Holiday: Busselton's Best Places to Visit With Your Pet

PAWesome Busselton: best dog-friendly beaches, cafes, wineries & breweries

Staying at BIG4 Beachlands means your dog can have a holiday too. Dogs are most welcome in selected accommodation and sites, but for the enjoyment of all guests (and the dog), take them on exciting day trips around Busselton and the Margaret River region.

The truth is, dogs hate being left alone - they want to join the party and share in the family adventures. Let them enjoy the many public spaces, eateries, wineries, breweries, and beaches of this magnificent region.

Beaches

One of the top reasons holiday-makers flock to Busselton and the South West is for the beautiful beaches. Dogs like the beach too, so finding a good dog beach is key to your dog's holiday. Here are our top dog-friendly beaches:

  • Busselton Beach closest to Beachlands – just 150 metres away
  • Yallingup - not the lagoon area, but the northern part of the beach is dog friendly. Park at the Dawson Drive beach entrance.
  • Dunsborough Foreshore

Parks

A park in another ideal place to take your dog on holiday. Busselton is full of open spaces which welcome dogs for a run-around for exercise, play, and fun. But please know that some areas are restricted to leash-only and regional parks such as Meelup do not allow dogs at all. Here are a few parks to take your pup for some fresh air and a walkie.

On-leash parks

  • Busselton Foreshore between Geographe Bay Road and Gale Street
  • Dunsborough Foreshore between Gifford Road and Centennial Park car park
  • Seymour Park, Dunsborough

Off-leash parks

  • Signal Park, Busselton
  • Barnard Park, Busselton NOTE: a new dog ban  is in effect for the area bounded by Ford Road, Geographe Bay Road, Marine Terrace and Georgette Street of Barnard Park East

Caution: Be careful taking your dog off-leash on bushland walking trails. The region is teeming with wildlife and dogs will be dogs, which not only endangers the life of our native animals, but also your pet. If your dog chases a kangaroo he may keep running and get lost. Don't chance it. Keep your dog on a lead in the bush and parks.

Remember to always clean up after your dog. The City of Busselton provides doggie bags along in the foreshore walking trails and some parks.
