Holiday Cooking; where to shop for local produce in Busselton

Big Day Out? A quiet night in is just what you need

After a wonderful day spent wining, dining and perhaps checking out a cave or two, it’s pretty tempting to stay in, cook something yummy and relax in front of the TV.

Whether you’re craving a barbecue on the deck or something more elaborate made in your fully equipped kitchen, you’ll find everything you need for a scrumptious night in.

Stock up on fresh, local produce

The Shed Markets is just a few minutes away, and you’ll find Provenance Farm Stall selling some of the best produce from the south west. Local citrus, avocadoes, pumpkins, apples, strawberries and everything else – as long as it’s in season! There’s a butcher, whole foods and organics shop, too. This is also home to Burger Bones, arguably the best burgers in the south west.

Margaret River Farmers Market runs every Saturday morning, rain, hail or shine. It’s a fabulous thriving market and well worth the 40 minute drive. Skip breakfast and feast on croissants, Danishes, bacon rolls or Jill James’ handmade tarts. Stock up on fresh vegetables, fruit, meat from The Farm House, Cambray Cheese and Heidi Goats Cheese.

Bunbury Farmers Market is another brilliant place to stock up on ready-made meals, fresh veggies and meat. We love the family pies, chocolate mousse, and all the yummy free tasters!

McHenry Hohnen sells beautiful smallgoods from The Farm House; bacon, ham, salami. Pick up a bottle of wine while you’re there!

The Larder in Gnarabup recently moved from the main street of Margaret River, but they still sell fantastic ready made meals and delicious picnic style foods.

Merchant and Maker in Dunsborough not only have awesome coffee and salads, they sell home made gourmet meals in glass jars. Plus quality local biscuits, cheese, bacon and other goodies.

Buy farm fresh eggs from the mobile vendor who sets up on Southern Drive, opposite the City of Busselton offices.

Margaret River Dairy Company offers free tastings and sells their awesome cheeses and yoghurts in Cowaramup. All the milk that goes into making their products comes from around the south west region.

There are several large supermarkets in central Busselton; Coles, Woolworths and ALDI. There’s a small IGA in West Busselton next to Cape Cellars Liquor Store – a locally owned bottle shop where you’ll find excellent wine and craft beer.

Cook up a storm

If you’re camping or caravanning, you’ll have access to our modern camp kitchen. It has free gas BBQs, fridge, oven, stove top, toaster, kettle and a microwave, as well as table tennis and a large TV for entertainment.

Staying in our fully self-contained accommodation? The luxurious Bungalows have large gourmet kitchens and a WeberQ on the deck. Stay in a Spa Villa and you don’t have to worry about dishes – there’s a dishwasher in your kitchen, alongside the microwave and stove top.
