Meet the Woylies

Meet the Woylies

What, I hear you say, is a Woylie?

The Woylie is a very rare, nocturnal little macropod with personality. They are the smallest member of the Kangaroo family who only reside in Southwest. This new tour is your only opportunity in the region to view these amazing, but critically endangered creatures.

They have been protected for several years in a sanctuary on a private property, and South West Eco Discoveries has been given the unique opportunity to operate this special tour. Being a nocturnal animal, the tour commences around sunset so you have the opportunity to see the Woylies as they forage for their evening meal. You may also catch a glimpse of kangaroos, bandicoots and possums who also make their home in the bush sanctuary.

This is a family friendly tour and children are fascinated by these little animals. During the tour you will get to enjoy a billy tea (or milo) and some biscuits with activity packs provided for the kids, so they can learn more about the cute little animals they see.

South West Eco Discoveries is operated by brothers Michael and Ryan who are third generation locals from the Margaret River Region. They provide sustainable nature based eco-tours that showcase the best the region has to offer.

In addition to the unique Meet the Woylies Tour they also offer a half day Coastal and Wildlife Eco Tour where you can see stunning coastal scenery and a variety of wildlife, both on land and in the sea. If tasting the produce is more your thing, jump on the Wine and Sights Discovery Tour, where you not only get to view scenic locations and iconic sites but also taste some delicious local wines and gourmet produce.
